The Perfect Cruise for the Family

Cruises /

Most people take advantage of summer vacations not just to reconnect with relatives, families, and loved ones. They also want to have that much-needed break from school or work. This is the reason why my family and I take some time off from our busy schedules during summertime. This time we planned for something we dubbed as “The Perfect Cruise for the Family.”

Perhaps you and your family are also planning to take a short vacation this year. There’s a large percentage of families all around the world that would go through extreme lengths just to plan the perfect summer getaway. Consider these cruise tips before you decide on your trip.

Perfect Cruise for the Family in Summer

Many families opt to spend summers in places with plenty of amusement parks, beaches, and campgrounds. They of course, would be doing their favourite activities as camping, experiencing thrill rides, and swimming among others. However, if you want to dare to be different come summertime, you might want to explore a unique option. That is, spending your next family vacation aboard a cruise ship. Here are some of the many beautiful things involved in a cruise.

Cruise Packages

There are plenty of companies offering discounted cruise packages. Why not plan a cruise to Santorini aboard a luxury liner via Many cruise ships have successfully crossed the line that was once dominated by airplanes. For many years now, many people have travelled halfway across the world aboard cruise ships and marveled at what the world looks like from a different vantage point.

Family-oriented Trips

Of course, if you’re travelling with your family, you’re probably concerned about each member’s attention span. This is especially true if you have kids travelling with you. Well, contrary to what others think that cruise ships are not “family friendly,” most ships actually have offerings that cater to every person on board.

Smaller Cruise Trips

If the idea of being on a ship for many days scare or doesn’t excite you, try a one-day trip cruise. This was what we did recently, a whole day cruising along the Danube. There were a number of ports we docked on. Once, there was wine-tasting and half-an-hour free walking by the nearer areas at the port.

Some family activities you can enjoy aboard a cruise ship include dinners, movies, mini concerts, and plays. There are liners that actually have playgrounds, swimming pools, and other amenities designed specifically for children. What’s more, the ship’s staff usually supervises these activities; thus, you and your spouse can hie off to enjoy a private moment all to yourselves.

For smaller ships, the deck is usually an enjoyable spot for the kids. Curious as they are, they would enjoy playing “I spy.” There are also board games to choose from…and you can always bring your own no-boredom ‘tools’ along.

If you decide to get off when docked, you can walk around, buy souvenirs, eat some, and wait for the ship to pick you up for the return trip.

Glorious Food

Gastronomy was truly a delight on cruise. From a hearty Viennese breakfast to an Austrian lunch buffet, from snacks to a dinner of your choice, food tasted as good as it looks. I’d say this makes 50% of the perfect cruise for the family. 😀

Food is usually included in the fare when you avail of a cruise trip.. This is specially so for bigger and longer cruises. Since one is staying and practically ‘living’ in the ship on vacation, liners give food a  special focus and importance. There are a number of chefs and cooks in the ship to make sure that their customers are satisfied and full.

Travel Agent or DIY-Booking?

You can find out more about luxury liners that offer fun activities for families by doing research. Nevertheless, if you want to spare yourself from all the legwork, speak to your travel agent. You’d be surprised at the number of results your agent can provide you with. However, if you don’t want to pay extra for this special service, you may opt to book your own cruise vacation online.

You can book your own family cruise vacation or you can use the professional assistance of a travel agent. You are likely to enjoy your chosen perfect cruise for the family, whichever option you choose.

Dare to be different come summertime...opt to cruise instead of the usual vacation getaway. Here are some of the many beautiful things involved in a Perfect Cruise for the Family.
