Travelling light with outfits and essentials
Looking good and travelling light are two concepts that seem counterintuitive but can be done. It’s all about planning and packaging. If you are travelling during winter, an overcoat and jacket hide most of your body and regular casuals that you wear underneath are barely visible. Also, you don’t sweat or exhaust easily during cool times. So, you can minimize those and give preference to heavier jackets and coats.
Packing Pouches
Similarly, opting for packing pouches that go inside your luggage can save space and help you organize various items based on utility. It’s a huge help when you are combing through essentials in the hotel room. You can also take out one of the pouches with you based on requirements when sightseeing without having to carry a huge luggage with you. Ideally, go for space and function over aesthetics when buying a backpack. You will be much more comfortable not having to compromise space to buy souvenirs at your destination. You also want to pack a smaller bag to take with you or buy packing pouches while moving around.
Dress Smart
While packing, go for versatile outfits rather than unique and occasion-specific ones. You can reuse them during travel and can save a lot of space. If you are sure about a party, you must attend or a specific event you are going to at the destination, and you will not be using them anytime soon, you can always buy and donate economical options while on the trip. For instance, if you are travelling somewhere across the middle east and come across places that require you to wear headdresses, you can buy one from the local market and easily discard them after use. The same goes for ethnic wear in exotic places that you are not likely to wear any time after that. An oversized scarf that can be worn in multiple ways, tees and shorts, jeans, long dresses, etc. are good options for travelling in most places.
Go Green
Disposable menstrual cups that are not harmful to the environment are good choices while travelling. Similarly, you don’t need to carry essentials like toothpaste, toothbrush, soap, conditioner, or shampoos which are easily available in most of the modern world. Unless you have a very specific requirement, it’s easier to buy smaller sachets and sample-sized ones from the destination. These will save you space and lets you explore the local market which will likely be an additional exciting experience to the trip.
Travel tech
A portable charger or a power bank is essential these days. As we are more dependent on technology, the phone running out of juice is the last thing you want during travel. Similarly, not all places use the same types of plug points. A travel adapter can help you with that.
Gears like Fitbit or smartwatches can help you keep the phone in your pockets and be involved in the experience in front of you. They also track your vitals and notify you of messages or calls. Holding your phone all the time in your hand is a huge no-no in some places as thieves can easily snatch them from you.
If you are travelling alone, carrying a personal GPS tracker can also be helpful to let your loved ones know you are safe. Some GPS trackers come with dedicated SOS buttons that you can use to let authorities and those close to you know you need help. The upside of having a GPS tracker is they provide an accurate route map, and live and precise location data to anyone who is trying to reach you to help. Phones and air tags are not as efficient as those when it comes to location tracking.
